Climate Change Innovation Challenge

Accelerating Green Innovations, Powering a Sustainable Future

Application Deadline : Jan 7, 2024

About the Program

The Climate Change Innovation Challenge by IIM Udaipur Incubation Centre under the TIDE 2.0 scheme aims to support early-stage climate tech ventures that are focused on addressing pressing environmental challenges and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
We want to provide you and your startup with state-of-the-art mentoring and online training, as well as access to financial support and networking opportunities. The bottom line is success, both for you and your start-up and for the environment with tangible climate solutions.
Only teams that have developed a prototype or a minimum viable product with the intention of pilot validation and product commercialisation are eligible to join.

Thematic Area

Generating electricity and heat energy accounts for around one-third of global greenhouse gases emissions each year. Finding net zero sources of energy – which are also reliable and affordable is vital to limiting the effects of climate change.

We seek new ideas, innovations, and technologies that can disrupt how we generate and enable better adoption and distribution of renewable energy and improve energy efficiency in a low-cost and inclusive manner for urban and rural communities.
The food systems that feed the world’s population account for 19-29% of global GHG emissions. But just as food production and consumption are key drivers of climate change, creating a regenerative food system can help us sequester carbon in soil and create healthier waterways, oceans, and ecosystems.

We seek innovations that make our agricultural systems more sustainable and increase access to law carbon food, tools, land, and resources for farmers and consumers, thereby, ensuring food security in both urban and rural communities
With the transportation sector accounting for 16% of global emissions, we need to reinvent how people and goods move across neighbourhoods and around the world. Entrepreneurs are building companies that revolutionize shared mobility, enable the mass adoption of electric vehicles and fleets, slash emissions from freight and aviation, and deliver new revenue streams to cities and towns.

We seek new ideas as new services, platforms, and technologies to support the growing demand for sustainable mobility and supply chains.
The shipping sector accounts for about 80% of the volume of global trade and is directly responsible for approximately 3% of global greenhouse (GHG) emissions. To limit global warming to below 1.5 degree Celsius, the shipping industry must be decarbonized by 2050.

We seek innovative solutions that can help the shipping sector transition away from fossil fuels and achieve the net zero targets by 2050.
Buildings and construction are responsible for 39% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Operational emissions (generated from energy used to heat, cool and light buildings) account for nearly two-thirds of this, while the rest comes from embodied carbon emissions, or the ‘upfront’ carbon that is associated with materials and construction processes. To eliminate the carbon footprint of the built environment, both buildings and the materials they are made from must therefore be more efficient, smarter, and cheaper than those used today.

We seek green building innovations that tan reduce the carbon footprint of buildings and occupants, thereby constructing a sustainable future for climate mitigation.
